Of War and Might

Sunday Feb 24, 2019 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Music Director Candidate – Amy McLennan
Piano & Violin – Marcus Scholtes

The strength of this theme, Of War and Might, is undeniable. Wartime events encompass so much emotion: pride of country, admiration for leaders, celebration of victory, dealing with defeat, loss of loved ones. The composers on this program excel at expressing these emotions. Our talented guest soloist, Marcus Scholtes, is performing on both piano and violin (Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 5, 1st movement, and John Williams’s Schindler’s List). You will enjoy the artistry of our clarinet section playing Samuel Barber’s exquisite Adagio. The complete ensemble rounds out the program with Tchaikovsky’s jubilant 1812 Overture.
