The Wellington Wind Symphony’s concert season runs from fall to spring each year.
Music Director Candidate – Amy McLennan
Piano & Violin – Marcus Scholtes
There is a stark reality in our concert’s theme Of War and Might. It covers the whole gamut of human emotion: from pride, admiration, celebration, to fear and sorrow. Perhaps music, more than other media, best conveys the essence of these emotions.
Our concert features just such music: Gustav Holst’s Mars from The Planets, selections from Edward Gregson’s The Sword and the Crown, Guy Woolfenden’s Gallimaufry, Yasuhide Ito’s Gloriosa and Samuel Barber’s Adagio (played by our clarinet section). Continuing in our theme and rounding out the program, guest soloist Marcus Scholtes, accompanied by the Wind Symphony, will perform Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 3, 1st movement, and on violin, John Williams’s Schindler’s List.
