The ‘Triumphal March’ (Marcia Trionfale) from Giuseppe Verdi’s 1871 opera, Aida, is an iconic majestic piece from Act II, featuring grand brass fanfares and a large chorus (often singing "Gloria all'Egitto") to celebrate Radames' victory over the Ethiopians. It represents a pivotal scene of triumph and internal conflict in ancient Egypt. It is a wonderful piece of music recognized by many, and we are looking forward to sharing our rendition with you! Join us on March 1st!

The Wellington Wind Symphony is looking forward to performing Jeff Tyzik’s ´New York Cityscapes’ with the Central Band’s ´Spitfire Brass Quintet’ on March 1st!
Jeff Tyzik is a Grammy award winning composer, arranger and conductor who has created over 500 orchestrations, arrangements and compositions for orchestra over the span of his 40 year musical career. He is highly regarded by orchestra musicians and conductors alike for his inventive and playable arrangements which always utilize the entire ensemble and create lush orchestral sounds. In particular, his wildly popular holiday and patriotic arrangements are recognized crowd pleasers that maintain the musical integrity of the original works.
Tyzik’s original compositions for Wind Ensemble have been recorded by the Eastman Wind Ensemble and continue to be performed by ensembles around the world.
In 2020, Jeff Tyzik was inspired to create custom reduced instrumentation versions of his orchestral arrangements and compositions for socially distanced orchestras. Tyzik has also orchestrated a number of classical masterworks for the reduced orchestra format that adhere to the original masterpieces and allow for smaller instrumentations.

We are excited to welcome our special guests, ‘The Spitfire Brass Quintet’ to our next concert on March 1st! The Spitfire Brass Quintet is composed of members of the Central Band of the Canadian Armed Forces, one of Canada’s six full-time, professional military bands. Based in Ottawa, Ontario, the quintet performs at state occasions and military ceremonies, supports morale and esprit de corps through playing at military social events and mess dinners, and entertains and connects with the public through outreach and educational programming.
The members of the Spitfire Brass Quintet are all serving members of the Canadian Armed Forces, and also active members of the Ottawa music community, appearing regularly with local professional orchestras and other ensembles. They are: Warrant Officer Alastair Chaplin, trumpet; Sergeant Christopher Gerdei, trumpet; Sergeant Michel Levasseur, horn; Sergeant Martin Labrosse, tuba; and Corporal Samuel Gervais, Trombone.
